Abstract

The invention relates to apparatus for making a beverage such as coffee, and includes a vessel or jug (10), a container (16) for coffee grains or the like, a heating means (18) and a stand (11). Distinguishing for the invention are a first carrying means (13) with which the heating means (18) with a temperature sensor (50) disposed thereon are taken into and out of the water in the vessel (10). There is also a second carrying means (14) with which the container (16) is taken into and out of the water in the vessel. Drive means (22-31) achieve the movements of the carrying means . A program means controlled by the temperature sensor (50), causes the heating means to sink into the water and heating of the water to a predetermined first temperature value, e.g. 94 DEG C. The program means subsequently causes the container (16) to be taken down into the water having said first temperature for a predetermined time, preferably four minutes, while the heating means maintains the temperature at said first temperature value. The container (16) is subsequently lifted up out of the beverage.
