Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pulp bleaching process improved so that the use amounts of chlorine and chlorine dioxide are reduced. CONSTITUTION: In a process for bleaching the pulp of cellulosic fiber material for producing chemical pulp, the pulp is continuously fed into a bleaching line, and plural bleaching agents comprising chlorine dioxide and ozone are used. In one and identical process, chlorine dioxide is added and subsequently ozone is added. Thereby, bleaching is performed by chlorine dioxide and ozone; and chlorine dioxide and ozone are added at mutually separated points in the bleaching line, and they are added each at one point or more. In an identical process, an interim cleaning is not performed between the points for adding chlorine dioxide and ozone.
