Abstract

On a centrally positioned shaft (2) parallel with the cylinders (3), and on the cylinder gables, is a gear mechanism fitted with rocker arms (7) which converts the forward and backward movement of the pistons to a rotating movement. By reason of the formation of the gear mechanism, the crankshaft connecting point on the rocker arms deviates from the centre line of the cylinders so that side pressure in the cylinders is virtually eliminated. In the cylinder gables is a gastight slide plate through which the round crankshaft passes, so that a compression chamber is formed beneath the piston inside the cylinder. The engine is thereby independent of both crankcase compression and a separate scavenger pump.
