Abstract

Method for one-sided or two-sided coating of a running web 29, for example a paper web, with a coating mixture, the web being fed into a press nip formed between a counter-pressure roller 21 and a levelling member 25, and the coating mixture being delivered to the space between web 29 and counter-pressure roller 21 before the said press nip in order to form a pool 39 there. Before the entry to the said pool 39, the web 29 is guided such that at the entry to the press nip it assumes an angle &alpha; of at least about 10 degree in relation to a tangent through the point of contact between counter-pressure roller 21 and levelling member 25. Arrangement for one-sided or two-sided coating of a running web 29, for example a paper web, with a coating mixture, comprising a counter-pressure roller 21 and a levelling member 25 cooperating therewith to form a press nip. The web 29 is arranged to be fed into and through the said press nip, and members 31, 35, 37 are provided for delivering the coating mixture to the space between web 29 and counter-pressure roller 21 before the said press nip in order to form a pool 39 there. The arrangement includes control member 31 by means of which the web 29 is made to run in such a direction that at the entry to the press nip it assumes an angle &alpha; of at least about 10 degree in relation to a tangent through the point of contact between counter-pressure roller 21 and levelling member 25. <IMAGE>
