Abstract

A drill bit for use in a drill string has central rods, surrounded by tubular members for transmitting impacts and rotation respectively. A flushing channel passes from the bit front to the intermediate drill bit portion where a transverse passage, positioned in an enlarged portion of the drill bit, connects the channel with an annular space between the rods and the tubular members. The channel terminates towards the bit front in at least two end passages, each of which has a small cross-sectional area than the flushing channel. The drill bit is made in either one piece or in pieces that rest loosely against each other, preferably with the parting line at the intermediate portion. A portion of reduced dia. lies between the enlarged portion and a portion with splines.
