Abstract
The liq. passes through a biological cleaning stage (with sedimentation or filtration of the biological slurry). It then passes through a chemical phosphorus pptn. stage. The biological cleaning is carried out so that little nitrifixation occurs. The phosphorus pptn. is carried out with CaO and/or Ca(OH)2 so as to raise the pH to at least 10. Air is used to remove ammonia from the slurry and is then washed with acid. It is then used (at least partly) for aeration of the waste water, or before, the biological cleaning stage.
