Abstract
A heat transfer element (10) for cross-current heat exchangers consists of a ceramic corrugated plate (11) and a flat plate (12). A multiplicity of these heat transfer elements (10) are piled together in such a way that the directions of the corrugations in adjacent elements in each case intersect at right angles, thus creating a heat transfer block (20) for the cross-current heat exchanger. Concave sections of the corrugations on which the soot blast flow for removing soot impinges, which soot is deposited on the heat transfer surfaces of the heat transfer block, are filled with ceramic solids (13). In a different embodiment of the invention, concave sections of corrugations at the corners abutting the sealings, which during installation of the heat transfer block are pushed into a housing, are filled with ceramic solids. <IMAGE>
