Abstract

The solid-fuel combustion device is for burning finely divided material such as peat, chips, sawdust, plastics or rubber products, domestic refuse or pit coal or coke. The device has a fuel-metering hopper connected via a shaft containing a reciprocating metering ram with a furnace. A grate in the latter in line with the shaft bottom surface extends to an ash pit against the opposite wall. - Combustion air nozzles are aimed in a row at the fuel on the grate from the same wall, the sidewalls and if desired the fully closed part of the grate Cladding of insulating material encloses an expansion chamber between it and the furnace vault, this chamber also heating the combustion air.
