Abstract

The present invention concerns a tracer composition which gives a low content of free electrons in the flame and is therefore especially suitable for use together with proximity fuses. The tracer composition has a maximum combustion temperature of 2000 K and includes, in addition to binder and fuel, ammonium perchlorate as oxidizer and, if appropriate, a small amount of an iodine compound, and the iodine compound and the ammonium perchlorate function as an electron-capturing substance in the flame.
