Abstract

The valve (1) is fitted in a first pipe (2) below ground surface, e.g. a pressure water pipe contg. cold water. The heat exchanger (4) is connected to a second pipe (5) e.g. a waste water pipe, the contents of which have a higher temp. than the cold water in the first pipe. - The connection between the heat exchanger and the casing (6) surrounding the valve is via one or more feed pipes (7) for heated air. At its lower end, the casing is connected to the heat exchanger by one or more outlet pipes (8) for cooled air.
