Abstract

A mount for portable guns, eg machine guns and small cannon, comprises a cradle 31a mounted on two parallel rods 20a, 20b extending in the longitudinal direction of the gun and attached to an outer stationary frame (13) connected to a substructure eg a tripod (1) via a pivot fork (10) to allow adjustable pivoting of the frame about a horizontal axis, as well as about a vertical axis of the pivot fork. The rods 20a, 20b carry recoil brakes 35 in the form of springs and resilient damping material, eg plastics, or alternatively wholly resilient damping material. On the stationary part of the mount a triggering arm 40 has at one end a lever 41 which acts on a pivotable triggering means 42 acting on the triggering mechanism (44) of the gun during the recoil movement of the gun upon firing. The lever 41 has a wheel (41a) which rolls along an interacting surface 42a of the triggering means 42 to allow automatic firing independent of the recoil movement of the gun, the recoil movement of the triggering means 42 being synchronous with the recoil displacement of the gun. <IMAGE>
