Abstract
An inertial pistol (for firing a gas generator for inflating a vehicle crash bag) comprises a firing pin 66, which is detained by a rotary shaft 58, and a sensing train which rotates said shaft in response to movement of an inertial mass against a (relatively) low biassing force. As shown the combined generator and pistol is housed within a vehicle steering wheel. <IMAGE>
