Abstract

The furnace gasifies solid fuel, partic. wood chips, and has a combustion chamber (12) to which air is delivered through an ash pit under a rotary grate (18). An auger (28) delivers the fuel to the grate. - Above the grate is a stationary partition (29), running from the centre to the outside, so as to form the fuel into an even layer passing under it, while its distance above the grate is adjustable. In plan view it is curved, so that it is at approx. 45 deg. to the grate transport direction. The grate has slag apertures near its centre, while its rotary shaft (23) has teeth to break the slag up.(1)
