Abstract

A process for the direct and simple isolation of (+)-usnic acid, which due to its biocide activity is useful in pharmacy and cosmetics, from Usnea barbata L. by means of extraction with ethanol as extraction solvent, followed by filtration under pressure or in vacuo, is disclosed.
