Abstract

The motor vehicle power unit comprises an engine (1), a clutch (4) and a change-speed gearbox (10). The axes of the gearbox input (11) and output (13) shafts lie in a plane inclined to the horizontal, while between gearbox and clutch is a main gear train (15) whose driving gear (18) is mounted on one side of the input and output shafts. The geometric centre (30) of the differential (16) is offset in the transverse direction in relation to the gearbox input shaft.
