Abstract

In a road vehicle having a service brake and an auxiliary brake with anti- lock apparatus controlling the service brake, additional valves are provided to control the auxiliary brake with outputs from the anti-lock apparatus. The auxiliary brake is arranged to apply a fixed pressure from a spring to the brakes and the anti-lock apparatus is arranged to reduce the pressure applied to reduce the tendency of the wheel to skid when the auxiliary brake is applied. The control may be by wheel or by axle. The anti-skid control of the auxiliary brake may be disabled by a driver-operated switch.
