Abstract

The dual-protection cap intended for covering the valve dome of a spray can is injection-moulded integrally from elastic plastic. Its inner surface consists of two segments (2) and two diametrically opposite, roof-shaped wedge pieces (4) which connect the segments (2) to one another. The ridge edges of the wedge pieces (4) are joined to the outer surface (1) of the cap. When this cap is seated on a spray can, the inwardly bent edges of the segments (2) engage behind a bead formed on the valve dome of the spray can. The cap is removed from the can by pressing the outer surface (1) in the region of the wedge pieces (4) between the thumb and index finger. The wedge pieces (4) transmit the movement thus produced to the segments (2) which are spread so wide apart that their edges are released from the can bead. The child-resistant safeguard consists in the fact than an infant does not understand the connections described above or is not capable of squeezing the cap strongly enough to remove it. <IMAGE>
