Abstract

Lignocellulose material with improved strength, drainage ability, and malleability is produced by treating the material with di- or polyfunctional derivatives, which react with hydroxyl groups in the cellulose material during formation of ionised or ionisable groups. The treated material can also be mixed into untreated lignocellulose material, whereby the entire mixture will reflect the desired properties.
