Abstract

A detonator safety device for rotating projectiles includes detent mechanisms, at least one of which is sensitive to acceleration and at least one sensitive to rotation, both of which must be released for enabling a detonator 28 mounted on a preferably rotatable first member 2 to be put into an active position and be triggered by a fuse mounted in the projectile in connection with the device. The rotation-sensitive detent mechanism includes a detent member 6, displaceable by the action of centrifugal force to an active position for providing the release of a second member actuatable by the acceleration-sensitive mechanism so that the first member 2 may be displaced to its active position. A locking member 15 interacting with the detent member 6 is adapted to inhibit displacement of the detent member to its active position until the locking member is subjected to a predetermined rotational force and is displaced to an active position. <IMAGE>
