Abstract

The printed products (6) are fed by an individual conveyor (1) having individual, releasable grippers (2). The grippers (2) are opened by means of a release element (10) which is movable back and forth along a guide (11) extending parallel to the individual conveyor (1). The displacement of the release element (10) from the first end position (14) in the conveying direction (A) of the individual conveyor (1) into the second end position (15) takes place at a rate which is approximately equal to the conveying rate of the individual conveyor (1). During this forwards movement, as a consequence, no release of the grippers (2) takes place. Subsequently the release element (10) is moved back in the opposite direction (C) from the second end position (15) into the first end position (14). During this backward movement, the release element (10) acts on the gripper (2) running past it and thereby effects an opening thereof. The released printed products (6) fall onto a conveyor belt (17), the conveying direction (D) of which is opposite to that of the individual conveyor (1). On this conveyor belt (17), individual overlapping sections (S1, S2) are formed which are separated from one another by a gap (19). This gap (19) permits a satisfactory processing of the printed products (6) section by section. <IMAGE>
