Abstract

A self-adjusting regulator for regulating a process 1 comprises a linear, digital controller 3 typically of PI or PID characteristic and which receives a reference value 4 and supplies a control signal 2 to the process 1. The parameters of the controller 3 are automatically adjusted with the aid of a first estimating and adjusting device 5 which samples the process 1 by means of a sampling device 7 controlled by a second estimating and adjusting device 6. The latter may thus, for example, select a sampling time to suit a set response delay time equal to a certain number of sample intervals, so as to give accurate but stable control. <IMAGE>
