Abstract
1514375 Silicon steel; heat treatment KAWASAKI STEEL CORP 17 June 1976 [21 June 1975] 25004/76 Heading C7A [Also in Division B3] Non-oriented silicon steel sheets are produced from material containing in wt. per cent C -0À02 Si 2À5-3À5 Mn 0À1-1 Al 0À3-1À5 S # 0À005 O #0À0025 Fe balance by hot-rolling, cold-rolling in at least two stages with an intermediate anneal so that the final rolling brings about a reduction of 40-70%, and finally continuously annealing. The intermediate annealing may be carried out at 900-1000‹C and the final anneal at #950‹C in dry hydrogen or dry hydrogen-nitrogen mixture. Where the carbon content of the steel as cast exceeds 0À01% it may be decarburized between the hot and first coldrolling operations. The molten steel may be vacuum degassed to reduce its carbon and oxygen contents, and may then be desulphurized and deoxidized by addition of rare earth elements.
