1395031 Dishwashing composition UNILEVER Ltd 24 May 1972 [26 May 1971 26 Nov 1971] 2838/72 and 54995/71 Divided out of 1315363 Heading C5D A dishwashing composition comprises (a) 10-50% detergent material, of which 5-40% is calcium and magnesium sensitive anionic synthetic detergent, 0-40% is calcium and magnesium insensitive surface active anionic solubilizer, 0-25% is calcium and magnesium insensitive surface active nonionic solubilizer, the total sulubilizer being at least 0À5%, and 0À5-8% is a phosphonate anti-resoiling agent having one of the following formulae: in which R 1 and R 3 are hydrocarbon chains where R 1 is -(CH 2 ) x CH 3 or K R 3 is -(CH 2 ) y CH 3 and R 2 is one of wherein n, m, x, y or z may be zero: x + y + z total 7-17 (inclusive) when R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals and 6-16 (inclusive) when R 2 is aromatic or a hydroxy organic group and wherein n + m + z + y is 7-13 (inclusive). wherein x + y + z = 7-13, (inclusive) x, y and z may be zero or finite. wherein R 4 is a linear alkyl hydrocarbon chain or a phenyl alkyl hydrocarbon chain wherein the group has alkyl 10-18 carbon atoms. (b) 0À5- 40% of an acidic pH controller, wherein (c) the ratio of total solubilizer: phosphonate antiresoiling agent is at least 1 : 1 and (d) the ratio of total anionic synthetic detergent and anionic solubilizer: phosphonate anti-resoiling agent is 40 : 1 to 4 : 1, percentages being by weight of total composition and ratios being by weight. The calcium and magnesium sensitive anionic detergent may be sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate, sodium alkene sulphonate, sodium alkane sulphonate, sodium secondary alkane sulphonate or an alkyl sulphate. The anionic solubilizer may be a sodium alkyl ether sulphate, sodium secondary alkyl ether sulphate, sodium hydroxyalkane sulphonate, or an ammonium primary or secondary alkyl ether sulphate. The nonionic solubilizer may be a secondary alcohol/ ethylene oxide adduct, a primary alcohol/ ethylene oxide adduct, an alkyl phenol/ethylene oxide adduct or lauric diethanolamide. The anti-resoiling agent may be an alkane phosphonate, sodium dodecyl benzene phosphonate. The pH controller may be succinic, adipic, glutaric, malonic, benzoic, phthalic, fumaric, citric or lactic acid. The composition may also include tertiary butanol, sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, a hydrotrope, water, sodium sulphate. The composition may be a liquid or powder. It may be impregnated in a paper or pad.
