Abstract
1334021 Lamp holders ROBERT BOSCHE GmbH 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21391/71 Heading H2E A bayonet lampholder adapted to receive a lamp which has two bayonet pins 22, 23 diametrically opposite each other but at different distances from the end of the lamp base, comprises a sleeve 15 with two bayonet grooves 29, 30 spaced circumferentially at less than 180 degrees apart, each with one end opening on to and end-face 28 of the sleeve and the other end having respective recess 26, 27, the grooves being arranged such that when the pin 22 nearer the lamp base is inserted into the groove 29 it emerges into the recess 26 before the other pin abuts the sleeve end-face 28. As shown the recess 26 has stepped surfaces 35, 36, 37 such that when the pin 22 is inserted in the groove 29 and has entered the recess 26 (pin position 2) the lamp can be rotated until the pin 26 reaches the surface 36 (pin position 3) when pin 23 will be aligned with the groove 30 (pin position 3<SP>1</SP>), the lamp can then be inserted further, to pin positions 4 and 4<SP>1</SP>, and again rotated to pin positions 5, 5<SP>1</SP> where the pins engage indentations 33. In other embodiments the groove 29 is made longer and therefore stronger by either inclining the end-face 25 to the axis of the sleeve (Fig. 4, not shown) or providing a recess (38) in the end sleeve adjacent the groove 30 (Fig. 5, not shown). The recesses may pass through the sleeve wall to form slots and the sleeve be assembled from two parts. The groove 29 can be inclined such that the pin 23 is aligned with the groove 30 as the pin 22 passes completely through the groove 29.
