Abstract
1,178,428. Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 26 May, 1967 [7 June, 1966], No. 25972/69. Divided out of 1,178,427. Heading B1E. [Also in Division Cl] A catalyst composition comprises a rareearth-metal containing natural or synthetic erionite having uniform pore openings of less than 6A. Rare earths are defined as elements of atomic number 57 to 71 inclusive, scandium and yttrium. They may be incorporated by base-exchange, preferably via the ammonium or hydrogen form. Mixtures of rare earths may be employed. The catalyst may also contain cadmium or zinc, and a hydrogenation component such as Co, Ni, Pt, Pd, Rn, Rh, Os, or Ir, in the form of free metal, oxide or sulphide or incorporated by ion-exchange. The catalyst may be sulphided before use and is useful for hydrocarbon conversion processes.
