Abstract

In a process for recovering fat and meat meal from animal raw material, the raw material is boiled by indirect heating and the boiled material is separated into glue water and solids and thereafter fat is separated from the glue water and the solids are dried; glue water freed from fat is supplied to the boiler inlet; and glue water freed from fat is also supplied directly to the step in which the boiled material is separated into solids and glue water, so that the glue water supplied to the latter step is used for washing out the fat from the solids without imposing any additional load on the boiler. The fat-free glue water may be supplied from an external source or recirculated from the process. There may be an evaporator between the boiler and the separating stage and fat-free glue water may be supplied to this also.
