Abstract
A motor vehicle braking arrangement has a control unit (9) that initiates braking that is to prevent the vehicle exceeding a defined speed. A braking value is calculated that will provide the required braking and at least an auxiliary braking unit (4) is activated. If the braking of the auxiliary brake is not sufficient to achieve the required braking, then a lower gear is selected so that a higher engine speed is obtained. Thus the auxiliary braking unit achieves the required braking value. An Independent claim is made for a method for braking a motor vehicle.
