Abstract

The elastic part (23) is secured to the end of the article over a restricted area (29) along the article central length axis (11) and this area extends over a cross-direction distance which is less than that of the absorbent body (17). A hygiene article comprises a front part (7'), a rear part (7'') and an intermediate part (15), and contains an absorbent body enclosed between a liquid permeable surface layer (19) and a liquid impermeable surface layer (21). An elastic part extending in the article cross-direction is provided at one or both ends of the article and has length edges (25) extending in the article length direction and cross-direction side edges (27) extending in the article cross-direction. The elastic part is secured to the side of the liquid impermeable surface layer facing away from the user. The elastic part is only secured to the end of the article over a restricted area along the article central length axis and this area extends over a distance in the cross-direction which is less than the cross-direction distance of the absorbent body.
