Claims (1)

Plasma torch to supply energy, for example in a chemical process. The burner contains at least three rigid tubular electrodes 1, 2 and 3 located coaxially in one another. The electrodes can be displaced axially relative to each other. They are preferably electrically isolated 5, 6, 7 from each other and have connections to a power source 8, 9, 10. When using three electrodes, the middle electrode 2 is used as an auxiliary or ignition electrode. It then connects to one of the remaining electrodes 1. The distance to the third electrode, adapted to the operating voltage, is such that when an operating voltage is applied, a spark arises. During operation, the auxiliary electrode 2 is retracted from the plasma zone, preventing the occurrence of a constant arc between it and another electrode.
