Способ культивирования дрожжей Phaffia rhodozyma для получения белково-витаминной добавки, содержащей астаксантин, включающий последовательное выращивание дрожжей: на твердой агаризованной среде, посевного материала на качалке в колбах, в ферментерах, в рабочем ферментере на основной ферментационной среде, содержащей источники углерода, ростовых факторов, минерального питания, отличающийся тем, что процесс культивирования в ферментерах проводят в отсутствие световой энергии, а для индукции каротиногенеза используют синглетный кислород, образованный в культуральной жидкости под действием сильного окислителя органической или неорганической природы, причем подачу раствора окислителя начинают по окончании лаг-фазы роста культуры и продолжают в течение всей экспоненциальной фазы роста, поддерживая постоянную оптимальную для данного окислителя концентрацию, обеспечивающую образование синглетного кислорода и каротиногенез в клетках дрожжей Phaffia rhodozyma.1.
