Abstract

1. The probe of claim 1, wherein one or more of the plurality of optical fibers has an outer diameter of from about 100 microns to about 250 microns. The probe of claim 1, wherein the open portion extends beyond the distal end of the cannula by a distance of approximately 3.0 mm to 8.0 mm. The probe of claim 4, wherein the open portion extends beyond the distal end of the cannula by a distance of approximately 4.0 mm to 6.0 mm. The probe of claim 1, wherein the open portion extends beyond the distal end of the cannula by a distance of approximately 8.0 mm to 14.0 mm. The probe of claim 6, wherein the open portion extends beyond the distal end of the cannula by a distance of approximately 11.0 mm to 13.0 mm. The probe according to claim. 1, in which the outer diameter of the open part is coated with an anti-friction material.
