Способ термической переработки механически обезвоженных осадков сточных вод, включающий сушку обезвоженных осадков парогазовой смесью, полученной из обезвоженных осадков и нагретой за счет теплоты сгорания высушенных осадков, сжигание высушенных осадков с получением и выпуском расплава минеральных веществ и прокалку сброса парогазовой смеси дымовыми газами, отличающийся тем, что перед прокалкой парогазовую смесь делят на два потока, причем первый поток в количестве 5-10% от всей массы сброса подают в зону сжигания термически высушенных осадков, а второй поток оставшейся массы вводят в газообразные продукты обезвреживания после выпуска расплава минеральных веществ.
