Abstract
Copolyester cpd. is formed from PET modified with adipic acid and has a viscosity specification in 3:2 phenol; tetrachloroethane at 25 deg.C of 700-1150, a galban yello index of 5-20% and a softening point of 125-235 deg.C as a function of adipic acid. The process comprises reesterifying dimethyl terephthalate to diglycolterephthalate, sepg. the esterified adipic acid the diglycol adipate, homogenising DGT and DGA and polycondensing at 280-282 deg.C for 1-5 hrs.
