Abstract

This is effected by advancing the opening times of the exhaust valves, e.g. with reducing engine load (alpha) or engine speed (n), pref. such that the pressure in the charge air line does not drop below a pre-determined level (P). For an engine with inlet and exhaust valves actuated via cam shafts (24,22), the rotational position of a shaft may be varied (54; 50,52, control 68) relative to the former (24).
