Abstract
On a shutteless loom, a needle control mechanism operates in synchronism with the sley. The mechanism assembly is mounted firmly on the shaft of the sley, and comprises a frame which supports the various elements intended for the transmission of final movement to the needle support strip, or to the weft insertion elements. The elements, which are driven by a toothed quadrant oscillating on a rotary shaft are precisely displaced by a lever keyed on to the shaft. The head of the lever is either submitted to the direct action of a connecting rod which is motivated at its other end by an eccentric system, or it is driven by a double arm, which is jointed to the connecting rod at an intermediary point. The oscillation of the sley, by reason of the framework joined to it, which supports the needle control and weft insertion mechanism, provides automatic functioning of the system. The synchronisation of the mechanism is such that, at its furthest forward position, the weft insertion elements are removed from the fabric, and at its further position to the rear, the elements pass through the centre of the fabric.
