Abstract

It consists in a surgical method used on people who do not have one, several or all of their teeth, by the use of a screw with helical threads of various sizes, from 2 to 5 threads (as in the drawing). They are self-tapping screws which reach the required depth and are applied in the edentulous areas of the jaws, which have a variable bone thickness, it being necessary to apply bigger or smaller screw implants, depending on the bone thickness. The screw implants are totally enveloped by the bone (osseointegrated) - as in the drawing. The head of the screw, which is rectangular, remains outside the gum, dentures being fixed therein, as in the drawing. The four main innovations are: 1. After being fitted it remains securely fixed, without the slightest movement; 2. We can immediately fit a denture, fixed to the implant, allowing the patient rapid recovery of mastication and aesthetic restoration; 3. The EMF implant is metal, made of titanium, chemically inert and biocompatible, with no possibility of rejection. (Figure appended, scale 10.1) 4. The greater width of the EMF screw implant is shown in the threads - 3.8 mm.
