Abstract
It is an undeniable fact that the location of the Philippines is highly subject to geo-hazards and climatic conditions that are precursors of calamities and is compounded by displacement of people due to armed conflicts and other man-made disasters. Rising to the challenge and recognizing that the loss of habitation due to the above mentioned factors has a very big impact on the emotional, psychological, self-esteem and health of the affected people, UPSPI came up with a timely and cost effective and competitive invention called UPSPI Expandable-Portable-Foldable Multi-Purpose Facility to have the capability to provide an immediate transitional housing facility that is not only modular but more importantly, can be easily transported and assembled and once it has served its purpose in one location may easily be disassembled and relocated somewhere else. The product uses readily sourced structural steel components and construction materials along with environmentally friendly and low carbon footprint walling and flooring materials and a prototype was constructed to provide a realistic model that can be tested and evaluated. It has been found out that the invention will be able to meet the basic demands for a secure, comfortable, rigid and easy to setup transitional housing using the unique and outstanding features of The UPSPI Expandable-Portable-Foldable Multi-Purpose Facility.

The invention needs the following series of steps in order for it to be ready for use and made operational. 1. Transport to site. 2. Deployment to specified location in-situ. 3. Assembly: 3.1 Once positioned 2 persons will lift the roof (1% part) upward and stand in both corners (see pic.) 3.2 Other 3 persons will lower the 2" part consisting of the floor and rear wall assembly. { see pic.) 3.3 Once the 2" part is lowered and levelled horizontally, the other 3 persons will now lift the rear wall towards the 2 persons standing at the side until it is vertical and partially carry the weight of the roof. 3.4 One of the 3 persons will move to unfold the left wall and the right wall sequentially until it is flush at the desired location. 3.5 Same person will secure the mounting bolts to the intended connection plates as shown {see pic for details and sequencing Jto complete. 3.6 The same work crew team will inspect the entire assembly and can install external wiring as needed. 4. Turnover.

The UPSP! Expandable-Portable-Foldable Multi-Purpose Facility is a unique, cost effective and original Filipino product design intended to address the urgent and immediate needs of people who are victims of natural calamities, disasters, armed conflicts and other related mishaps for an easy to deploy, assemble, relocate and secure transitional shelter and multi-purpose facility to mitigate the problems associated with the loss of habitation when such unfortunate events occur.
The basic modular unit measures 2.99m L x 2.96m W x 2.60m H (Refer to attached drawing) when fully assembled and is constructed using structural hollow square and rectangular steel sections with sufficient dimensions to carry and bear its allowable loads with ample provision for safety.
Walls are constructed using ECO sandwich insulated panel for outstanding thermal and acoustic properties and when integrated with the structural steel frame will help form a rigid, stable and secure transitional housing facility that can accommodate up to five (5) persons when used as a sleeping quarters and is adaptable for tropical and subtropical regions and its claimed that the invention can withstand 250 mph winds velocity and will not rot, decay or rust even if exposed to wet and damp conditions for extended period of times.
The product is transportable in its folded/collapsed form measuring only 2.99m L x 0.65m W x 2.60m
H and once in- situ will only take less than 5 minutes to assemble to provide a decent, comfortable and secure unit ready for immediate occupancy and use. With this feature, the invention is highly adaptable to quick response situations as previously mentioned.
The use of bolts and its corresponding connection plates secures the connection of the individual subassembly parts to form the rigid and stable structure. The same basic interconnection concept will also be applied for the expanded versions and as per design is intended for horizontal or single level expansion.
