DONDE EL PROCESO COMPRENDE: a) OXIDAR CATALITICAMENTE EL SO2 EN UN CONVERTIDOR CON POR LO MENOS UNA ETAPA DE CONTACTO PARA FORMAR SO3; b) RETIRAR EL GAS DE PROCESO QUE CONTIENE EL SO3 FORMADO, E INTRODUCIRLO EN UN APARATO PARA LA RECUPERACION DE CALOR, PREVIO PASO POR UNA ETAPA DE CONTACTO INTERMEDIO, UN ABSORBEDOR INTERMEDIO, EL CONVERTIDOR Y UN ABSORBEDOR FINAL, EN EL CUAL SE GENERA VAPOR A PARTIR DEL AGUA DE ALIMENTACION MEDIANTE EL CALOR DEL GAS DE PROCESO; Y, c) INTRODUCIR EL GAS DE PROCESO EN UN ABSORBEDOR, EN EL CUAL SE ABSORBE EL SO2 EN ACIDO SULFURICO. LA DIFERENCIA DE TEMPERATURA ENTRE EL AGUA DE ALIMENTACION Y EL GAS DE PROCESO QUE ENTRA EN EL ABSORBEDOR ES DE ENTRE 5°C Y 100°C. EL AGUA DE ALIMENTACION INTRODUCIDA EN DICHO APARATO ESTA A UNA TEMPERATURA DE MAS DE 102°C, Y SE DESAIREA TERMICAMENTE A UNA TEMPERATURA DE ALIMENTACION DE 20°C A 90°C Y A UNA PRESION ENTRE 3 Y 10 BAR ANTES DE ENTRAR EN DICHO APARATO. LOS GASES QUE EMERGEN DE DICHO APARATO ESTAN A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 170°C Y 350°C, Y SE UTILIZAN PARA EL CALENTAMIENTO PARCIAL DEL AIRE DE COMBUSTION, RECALENTAMIENTO DE LOS GASES DE ABSORCION INTERMEDIA Y/O PARA EL CALENTAMIENTO PARCIAL/PRECALENTAMIENTO DEL AGUA DE ALIMENTACION ANTES QUE ENTRE EN LA DESAIREACION. LA PLANTA INCLUYE: i) UN CONVERTIDOR PARA LA OXIDACION CATALITICA DE SO2; ii) POR LO MENOS UN ABSORBEDOR; iii) UN APARATO DE RECUPERACION DE CALOR; Y, iv) UN DESAIREADOR
