Abstract

Disclosed is a method comprising the steps of: a) combining vegetable oil with diesel to form a first mixture, wherein the vegetable oil comprises not more than 10 weight percent of said first mixture; b) hydrotreating the first mixture in a first stage to yield a hydrotreated second mixture comprising deoxygenated triglyceride components;c) isomerizing the hydrotreated second mixture in a separate second stage in the presence of an isomerization catalyst to yield a third mixture comprising hybrid diesel fuel, wherein H2S and NH3 in the second mixture have not been removedprior to isomerizing the second mixture in the second stage, and wherein effluent from the first stage goes to the second stage; and d) isolating the hybrid diesel fuel of the third mixture to yield a hybrid diesel fuel product.
