Abstract

Disclosed is a waste gas burner apparatus particularly, but not solely, for use with waste gases emanating from landfills. The apparatus includes: a flare terminating in a waste gas outlet; a cowling about the outlet, the cowling having a substantially open top for the exhaust of waste gas and an open region below the outlet for the introduction of air; variable constriction means to vary the size of the outlet; and wherein the variable constriction means varies the velocity of the waste gas exiting the outlet thus varying the amount of air drawn into the cowling via the open region.
