Abstract

An aerial cable dampener includes a gripping helix portion 1 which can be wound on the cable to grip the cable, and a damping helix portion 2 of wider diameter than the gripping portion. When the cable vibrates the damping portion interferes with and damps the vibrations of the cable. The dampener may be twisted in a single operation with tandem helical portions from a strip of metal.
