Abstract

1. An oil seal or scraper ring which can be mounted under resilient prestress and which comprises a rigid stiffening ring (4) having a permanent coating (1) made of fluid-impermeable material, in which the coating (1) is provided with ribs (2) projecting radially outwards, characterized in that a thickening (3) of the coating (1) is provided adjacent to the ribs (2), in that the thickening (3) forms a closed sealing band (3) extending in circumferential direction, by means of which the required sealing is ensured and in that the overall surface of the ribs (2) is three to five times as large as that of the sealing band, by means of which the requirement for axial stability is fulfilled.
