Abstract

The invention relates to a gripping device for lifting such plate-like building elements (10), which consist of a non-loadable core layer (11) and a surface plate (12, 13) covering it on both sides. The device comprises an actuator (2) rotatable relative to its frame structure (1), a gripping member contacting the surface plate being located at the one end of the actuator, and operating members (4) at the opposite end. Each gripping member (3) consists of a gripping surface (5) eccentric to the swivelling axis (17) and extending to the side from the swivelling axis. The frame structure includes gripping projections (6) located at the place of the gripping surfaces turned into the gripping position (P). In addition, the first minimum distance (W1a) of the gripping projections and the gripping surfaces turned into the gripping position is such that it at least causes pressing, and the second distance (W2) of the gripping projections and the gripping surfaces turned into the free position (V) is substantially bigger than the thickness (S) of the surface plate.
