Fig. 1 en 2 geven een inrichting weer bestaande uit een draaibare trommel 1 voorzien van gaten, bekend als lipschermen 2, langs de omtrek 20 daarvan, waarbij de lipschermen een variabele afmeting bezitten. De lipschermen 2 werken zodanig dat de inkomende lucht naar de bodem van de trommel wordt geleid in een richting tegengesteld aan de draaiïngsrich-ting van de trommel, waarbij de lucht op deze wijze het materiaal langs de bodem zwevend houdt en de verbrandingssnelheid verhoogt. Afval, turf 25 en dergelijke materialen, die kunnen worden vergast worden door middel van een spiraal 3 in de trommel 1 gevoerd. Het materiaal wordt in lengterichting door de trommel verplaatst door middel van geleidingselemen-ten in de richting van het gasafvoerdeel 4, waar niet brandbaar materiaal ook wordt afgevoerd via een luik 5 naar beneden toe op een schroef 30 13. De trommel is geplaatst in een dubbelwandig huis 6. De tussenruimte 7, waarvan de bovenzijde is voorzien van een geleidingsplaat bestemd om het rookgas naar de bodem 1 van de trommel te dwingen, dient voor het afkoelen van de binnenmantel en tegelijkertijd voor het verhitten van de primaire lucht 8, welke onder de trommel naar binnen wordt getrokken en 35 in de trommel wordt gedrukt of getrokken, waarbij de luchtkamer 9 zodanige afmetingen bezit dat de juiste snelheid van de binnenstromende lucht zal worden verkregen. The intermediate space 7, the upper side of which is provided with a guide plate intended to force the flue gas to the bottom 1 of the drum, serves to cool the inner jacket and at the same time to heat the primary air 8, which under the drum is drawn in and pushed or pulled into the drum, the air chamber 9 being sized to obtain the correct velocity of the air flowing in. The outer jacket 10 is suitably insulated.
