Abstract

Shock absorber for a motor vehicle comprises a piston and cylinder assembly in which at least one shock absorbing body is formed on each side of the piston. The bodies (7) are pref. made of rubber and are frusto-conical and hollow. Metal discs (8) of annular shape are located between the bodies and sealed to them, so as to provide a set of chambers which can be filled with gas. The space between the cylinder and the bodies may be filled with a viscous liquid.
