Abstract

The motorcycle has the rear wheel mounted on a swing arm on a horizontal axis, a spring acting between arm and frame. A first portion of a brake rotates with the wheel and a second is secured to the arm. The second portion (7) turns about the rear wheel axis (5), and is coupled by a link (11) to the frame (1) at a point (12) clear of the arm axis (2), typically level with the top of the rear wheel and near the spring mounting point. The design avoids undesirable swinging movement of the rear wheel when braking.
