Abstract

The energy collector has one or more sides permeable to rays of diffuse solar energy. It comprises a hollow body admitting the energy through one or more sides, and filled with a compound, alloy or mixture of low melting point, its phase change temperature being between 20 and 65 deg.C. The body can be of glass, a combination of glass and metal, or earthenware. The filling can be organic or inorganic acid, beeswax, a hydrocarbon material, or a mixture of them. The side of the body opposite to that struck by the rays can be blackened.
