Abstract

The intermediate storage tunnel system(1) is intended for containing object carriers arranged side by side and above one another, which can be moved in each tunnel(2) from the entry(3') to the exit(3) side where loading and discharging lifts(5) with platforms(6', 6) are provided. Each tunnel contains transport units with step-wise motion extending the full length of the tunnel and provided with carrier gripping elements. At the exit end, the transport units comprise a towing element engaged by a reciprocating discharge mechanism on the discharge lift platforms (6).
