Abstract
The directionally sensitive clinometer is used to determine the position relative to the vertical of an element connected to it. It consists of a housing with a cavity curved at the bottom and containing a movable sphere. The sphere can affect a magnetic flux in a coil excited by a current and located in the cavity. The end surface of the coil faces the sphere. The two halves (7) of the coil (1) are separated by an internal air gap. The end surface of each half faces the curve. The halves can be separated vertically or horizontally. There is a slotted guide in the direction of the coil halves. The system can be refined by using a second pair of coil halves at right angles to the first pair.
