Abstract

2-Oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetohydrazide cpds. of formula (I) (where R1 is H or 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetyl) are new cpds. obtainable by reacting an ester of formula (II) (where R2 is 1-4C alkyl) with R1-NH-NH2 (III). (I) are useful as inters. for 2-oxo. 1-pyrrolidineacetamide (piracetam), a known agent against travel sickness, for the treatment of senile involution and for promoting learning capacity. (I) are themselves also pharmacologically active (e.g. as psychopharmaceuticals).
